We offer two different ways for you to retrieve your queen(s):
Picked up at our Wilsonville, OR Store: They are typically ready for pick up shortly after they are received by our retail store by 11:00 am on the available pickup date.
Shipped Directly to Customer: Queens will be shipped the same day they arrive at our location. Please see below regarding shipping costs and methods.
and to reserve your queens.
Italian Queens: Generally described as gentle and productive. We consider Italian bees to be great for suburban beekeeping because of their gentle characteristics combined with good honey productivity.
Carniolan Queens: Thought to do well in colder, mountainous climates. From our experience, they are also quicker to defend their hive, so they are less well suited for backyard beekeeping where you have close neighbors. Carniolans also tend to maintain a smaller cluster during the winter and are late to build up brood in spring - great traits for mountain foothill bee survival.
Saskatraz Queens: These are hybrids raised in Orland California from breeder stock raised in Saskatchewan, Canada. The breeder stock are selected for wintering ability, temperament, tracheal mite resistance, and varroa tolerance. The hybrid queens produce colonies with genetically diverse workers, showing fast spring buildup, and good honey production.
Old Sol Survivor Stock: A diverse genetic background including Russians, Caucasians, VSH breeders, Minnesota Hygienics, and a pinch of Carniolan and Italians. They are the result of years of heavy performance based selection. They show traits of a reliable bee, suitable for both honey production and commercial pollination.
Limited Number of Queens Available Each Day.
IMPORTANT : QUEENS ARE SHIPPED AT CUSTOMER'S RISK. Queens need to be shipped separately from all other products for their protection. Merchandise will be processed on a separate order. If you're ordering queens for multiple dates, there must be a separate order for each date.
REGARDING SHIPPING COST : Final shipping cost will reflect the most appropriate shipping method to ensure a quick and safe delivery of your queen(s). For residents of Oregon and Washington (with the exception of the north eastern corner of Washington), shipping queens via UPS Ground should suffice (1 day transit time). Outside of the Northwest Region, queens MUST ship via UPS Next Day Air. This method can be expensive, but it's too risky for queens to be in transit for longer than one day. If you are located east of the Mississippi River, we recommend sourcing a queen more locally.
Cancellation Policy : Queen Bee orders may be cancelled prior to 10:00 am Friday the week before the queen is scheduled to arrive. There is a $5.00 cancellation fee.
