This Medium NUC is actually made up of two 6 5/8" NUC bodies that hold 5 frames each. You get two unassembled Medium NUC bodies, fully assembled telescoping top, inner cover, assembled screened bottom board, and entrance reducer. nails to assemble bodies included. Frames are not included.
As a shop teacher I am a little embarrassed to admit I purchased this as opposed to just building one from scratch. The quality of the materials and the workmanship would receive an A in my grade book. The required assembly of the bodies went very smoothly. The finger joints exhibit what I refer to as a German fit known as good-n-tight and produced square corners.
Seriously, if you want to build your own from scratch go ahead, but I think it would be very difficult for the average woodworker to obtain the high level of fit and finish this kit delivers and by the time you purchased all of the materials required for this full kit you are not likely to obtain a great deal of savings.
Lastly, while I would give this kit an A the numerical score would be a 98. I deducted two points for a shortage of 7D nails that would send most folks to the local hardware store to complete this project. These nails are like trying to find chicken teeth so I just used 8D and they worked out fine.
Great Job Brushy Mountain, Ill be returning for more soon!

Great product, well made! I bought one to try some splits, liked it so much I bought another. I overwintered a late season split in this nuc and they did great. the only thing I would change is the mite board is difficult to add or remove without dismantling the nuc.
The best joints I have worked with first class woodwear
I would buy again

Received my order today and I am totally satisfied with the craftsmanship! Everything fit together very nicely- the joints are SUPER tight. Placed my order on a Sunday night and received my order Thursday. Great job Brushy Mountain!

I baught 4 of the Medium Nucs
I love them, I made my own entrance reducers because I am a control freak. I used wood screws to put them together, very nice the I used a nail gun to secur the bottom to the body to make picking them up and moving easier. They were just what I needed to introduce new queens and raise splits. And I got additional bodies to keep them able to increase in size should I loose a hive for whatever reason I am ready to make a fresh start with these handy little nucs. Perfect for my apiary. All Medium 8 Frame Brushy Mountain Equipment. Love you guys.
5 Frame 6-5/8 Complete Nuc
this is a great nuc joints were tight and everything fit well . I will definitely buy another 1 or 2

split and spackled inner cover
Nuc would have been great but inner cover arrived split and it looks like someone tried to spackle the split. Will not use this in my hive! Only a 2 because of the hassle factor of having to make my own inner cover.

The nuc kit that has all the features I was looking for in one place
Ive looked at all of the nuc kits with other companies and this one has all the features I was looking for:
1 Screened bottom board
2 Top cover with notch for upper entrance
3 Slide in board beneath bottom board for mite counts
4 Metal roof
5 Medium or western depth
Went together easily and well.
Love this hive, plan to buy more just which shipping was not so high.

Just almost nice.
The inner cover is too tight to the nuc body so an upper entrance can barely be used. You can hardly remove the mite count board it is so tightly squeezed in - certainly not without removing all the components so you can turn it upside down and wrestle it out from under the bottom board. THE ENTRANCE REDUCER IS A SOLID BLOCK OF WOOD. Assembly is fairly easy but they all dont always butt tightly against the joints, even with nailing them down tight.
I bought four of these, they are easy to put together, joints are nice and tight.
