Hi, Everyone!

I wish I had great stories to tell you about my hives but this nasty weather isn’t allowing that. I haven’t inspected my hives since I last wrote but I have kept a check on the feeders. I was at my neighbor’s house a couple of weeks ago and there were bees everywhere. She commented that I must be happy to see my girls. I told her of course I was and if by chance they were “the other neighbors” bees and not mine at least I knew where I could get more free bees from. We then began to plot how I could replenish my hives. It’s good to have friends!

I’m just waiting on the next warm day to add my feeding stimulants. Since I don’t have any frames of pollen stored up to feed back to my girls, I’m going to use Ener-G-Plus Bee Diet and Hive Alive. I really want to focus on my girls’ nutrition this year. Studies have shown that proper nutrition is essential for healthy bees. Healthier bees can deal better with diseases and viruses. I know some of you are probably rolling your eyes because you are so tired of hearing about proper nutrition and feel like we are trying to beat this into your head. Well we are!! I will admit that in the past I didn’t consider nutrition as something I had to be concerned about. I thought the bees would get what they needed from foraging and if they didn’t, then oh well they would be alright. It’s not alright. I don’t want to buy bees every year. As I said before, I want to be more attentive to my bees this year.

See you at the Bee Farm!
