For years we have been using powdered sugar in the form of a "sugar shake" to monitor mites. In recent years, beekeepers have moving from dusting a sample of bees to dusting the entire colony. Now, it has gotten even easier with this Powdered Sugar Blower. Fill the side chamber with powdered sugar and blow it into the entrance of the hive. If you are using it as your sole form of mite control, dust a lot. If you are using it to keep the mites in check until something like Api Life Var can be used, just dust a little.
