Instructional Sheet on Hand-Rolled Beeswax Candles

Rolling sheets of beeswax is much easier if the sheets are warm. The best way to warm the wax sheets is to leave them in a warm place over night. A warm room is sufficient. In a pinch you can also lay a piece of cardboard on a heating pad and then roll your candle on the warm cardboard. Just be careful not to over heat the sheets or they will melt. Just as too much heat is dangerous, too cold, they will become brittle and shatter.

8" Candlestick pair (requires one sheet):
Most people wish to have a hanging pair of rolled candles. In this case, cut your wick so it measures approximately 24 inches. To begin, cut the wax sheet in half as illustrated by the dotted line in Figure 1. Place wick along one edge and roll wax tightly and evenly around wick. Keep rolling but watch the edges so you roll the candle straight which gives you the flat top. If you need to, the candle can be carefully unrolled and realign as needed. Just try not to over work the wax. Once you have the first candle done, roll the second candle the same way.

Pencil Candles (requires one sheet):
Most people wish to have a hanging pair of rolled candles. In this case, cut your wick so it measures approximately 24 inches. Cut the sheet on a diagonal through the center of the wax sheet so you have two equal pieces (Figure 3). Place the wick on the longest edge of the sheet and roll wax tightly and evenly around wick. Watch the flat end of the candle so you roll the candle straight. Unroll as needed to realign.

8" Pillar Candles (requires 1-2 sheets):
Place wick along one edge and roll wax tightly and evenly around wick (Figure 2). Keep rolling but watch the edges so you roll the candle straight. If you need to, the candle can be carefully unrolled and realign as needed. Just try not to over work the wax. If you would like a large diameter pillar, simply roll another sheet around the existing pillar.
