Developed by Harry Cloake from New Zealand, this piece of equipment will enable you to raise high quality queens, selected for desirable characteristics, and be able to successfully bank them until they are needed. This board enables you to manipulate a colony to be a swarm box, cell finisher, and queen bank. This method requires grafting of larvae but simplifies production so that every beekeeper can be successful raising their own queens. Full instructions provided.
Its a nice way for a beginning, or experienced I suppose, bee keeper to get into raising queens. I started last year and two of my queens were dynamite. I am not sure why, but better than any purchased queens. I am in Oregon and I have honey supers on those 2 hives in mid-April. I am worried about swarming! The Brushy Mtn. Cloake Board I have, has a metal queen excluder and works just fine. I fact, it will be on tomorrow.
