The 8 Frame Hive is gaining popularity with many beekeepers because of its ease of manipulation, standardization of equipment, and increased success. In Denmark where I live, the most common beehives are with 12 x 10 inches frames. I chose - despite warnings from members of the local beekeepers association - The English Garden Beehive with 8 medium supers ordered directly from Brushy Mountain Bee Farm and have no regrets at all. It is now my third year as a beekeeper and I now have two hives in my backyard that I and my family enjoy every single day. I have assambled all medium supers with screws and glue and then stained them with light brown wood preservation. The oldest hive look still after three years as new. Simplified and easy beekeeping and beautyful hives with copper roof. A shame that I can not show you a photo of my garden with the two beehives. I can only give Kim Flottum right - this is the hive of the future . Next week I will order a third hive from Brushy Mountain and prepare for a third bee colony next season.

Great great great
Theres no other way to describe these boxes. They are well built and solid. I have all 8 frame medium boxes in all my gear except the observation NUC. One size box, one size frames, why mix up all that other gear and complicate life?
I got the superframes and the bees went right to work on it. Not sure what the other guy was doing wrong, but there was no hesitation at all for my bees. They are making honey in their first year, all on black superframes, so I cant complain.

Loved for over a year
I bought six of these beautiful hives last spring and Im thinking about buying more. Im expanding beekeepers and sites. Very durable and easy to move. The copper roof is on the heavy side, but thats important come strong winds and curious critters.
Hive is wonderful but my bees hate the black foundation
I have had two of these hives for a year now and I love them. They are easier to lift than the 10 frame deeps and my bees are doing quite well in them. My only complaint is that my bees refused to build on the black foundation and built their own comb everywhere else but the black foundation. I purchased the small cell beeswax foundation with the copper wire supports and they love it. Over all well worth the money, next time I would just buy the one without the black foundation.
I received two of the English Hives for a christmas present and they are BEAUTIFUL! I cant wait to use them. Getting ready to place another order.
